Travelling Directions to MONA Country Manor House in Braidwood:

The MONA Country Manor House Estate is located just east of Braidwood on the Southern Tablelands in the Capital Country Region of New South Wales, halfway between Canberra ACT and Batemans Bay on the South Coast of NSW Australia.

The entrance to the property is easy to find on the Kings Highway just East of the Braidwood township. Watch for the imposing iron gates, stone fence and sweeping driveway.

Transport Services To Braidwood NSW

Travelling By Plane: Nearest Airport - Canberra Airport

Travelling By Train: CountryLink offers rail/coach services interconnecting Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. The railway stations closest to Braidwood are Tarago 45km and Bungendore 48km, both on the Canberra line. When travelling from Melbourne you can disembark / change lines at Goulburn 82km from Braidwood.

Travelling By Bus: Murrays Coaches provide a daily bus service to Braidwood running between Canberra and Narooma via Batemans Bay South Coast NSW. This bus service connects with the Canberra to Sydney & Canberra to Wollongong services.

Driving Directions - Travelling By Car

Arriving At MONA: Once you have arrived at the entrance to MONA, with its imposing iron gates and stone wall, follow the drive about 800m and cross over the Palladian bridge. Just past the first building on your right (the Stables Villa), make a sharp left turn and follow the sign to Reception. The Reception office is a small cottage located at the rear of the homestead.

Below are driving instructions from different departure points.

Driving from the Ski Fields NSW:

  • Travel to Canberra along the Monaro Highway.
  • As you approach Canberra follow the signs to Queanbeyan.
  • This will bring you onto Canberra Avenue.
  • Drive through Queanbeyan and continue along this road to Bungendore.
  • At Bungendore turn right towards Braidwood & Batemans Bay. Braidwood is approximately ½ hour from Bungendore.
  • Approaching Braidwood, immediately after the turn off to Nowra, the road bends sharply to the left and then the right.
  • Proceed up the hill and then through the township.
  • Turn left at the give way sign, which is the road to Batemans Bay.
  • Travel along this road approximately 1.3 kms.
  • WARNING do not accelerate at the 100 kmh speed zone.
  • The entrance to MONA is on the left just after passing the changed speed zone sign.

Driving from the South Coast NSW:

  • Travel south to Batemans Bay.
  • Just before entering Batemans Bay, turn right at the roundabout towards Braidwood and Canberra (King's Hwy).
  • The trip along this road is about 45 mins.
  • About 1 km before reaching the township of Braidwood you will see the entrance to MONA on the right.

Driving from the South West NSW:

  • Travel north along the Hume Highway.
  • At Yass follow the signs to the Barton Hwy.
  • Follow the Barton Hwy until you reach Northbourne Ave Canberra.
  • Turn left towards Goulburn/Sydney.
  • Northbourne Ave becomes the Federal Highway.
  • About 10 minutes along the Federal Hwy there will be a right hand turn to Bungendore (Mac Reefs Road).
  • Turn right into Mac Reefs Road and follow this road until you come to a T intersection.
  • Turn right towards Bungendore.
  • When you reach Bungendore you will come to a round about.
  • Turn right at the roundabout and then take the next left.
  • Follow this road until you reach the township of Braidwood.
  • Braidwood is approximately ½ hour from Bungendore.
  • Travel through the township until you reach a give way sign.
  • Turn left at the give way sign, which is the road to Batemans Bay.
  • Travel along this road approximately 1.3 kms.
  • WARNING: Do not increase your speed at the 100kmh speed zone.
  • The entrance to MONA is on the left just after passing the changed speed zone sign.

Driving from Sydney NSW:

  • Travelling along the expressway, take the second Goulburn exit.
  • At the top of the exit ramp turn left towards the 'Woolscour' and the 'Abattoir'.
  • At the T intersection (stock grid on road ) turn left again and follow this road for approximately 1.5 kilometres (you will be doubling back alongside the freeway).
  • At the next T intersection turn right. The road curves and passes under the railway line.
  • Again at the next T intersection turn right. You are now on the Braidwood road. This road passes through Lake Bathurst at approximately 20 mins and Tarago at approximately 25 mins. Do not turn towards Bungendore at Tarago. Keep going straight ahead. After another fifteen minutes you will come to another T intersection with the Kings highway.
  • Turn left towards Braidwood.
  • It is approximately 17 minutes to Braidwood.
  • Immediately after the turn off to Nowra, the road bends sharply to the left and then the right.
  • Proceed up the hill and then through the township.
  • Turn left at the giveway sign, which is the road to Batemans Bay.
  • Travel along this road approximately 1.3 kms.
  • WARNING do not accelerate at the 100 km speed zone.
  • The entrance to MONA is on the left just after passing the changed speed zone sign.

Driving from Canberra ACT:

  • Travelling out of Canberra follow the signs to Queanbeyan.
  • If you have come along Canberra Avenue you will drive through Queanbeyan and continue along this road to Bungendore.
  • If you have travelled out of Canberra past Canberra airport you will continue towards Queanbeyan until the first roundabout. Turn left here towards Bungendore and Batemans Bay
  • At Bungendore turn right towards Braidwood & Batemans Bay.
  • Braidwood is approximately ½ hour from Bungendore.
  • Approaching Braidwood, immediately after the turn off to Nowra, the road bends sharply to the left and then the right.
  • Proceed up the hill and then through the township.
  • Turn left at the giveway sign, which is the road to Batemans Bay.
